Ride-along with Three Rivers Public Safety

In my nine months on the job as a Three Rivers Commissioner, I’ve tried to tour as many parks as I can and learn from the staff who make our parks the fun, clean and safe places they are. Of all the experiences I’ve had in the parks so far, one of the highlights for me has been the opportunity to participate in a ride-along with Public Safety Sgt. Heidi Speak.

Fish Lake Project Planned for 2013 – Updated Park Information

Fish Lake Project Planned for 2013

Three Rivers Park District will be completing a pavement management project for Fish Lake Regional Park in 2013. The project will involve replacing all of the pavement on the entrance road, the parking lots, and portions of the paved trails within the park. The Park District is also taking additional measures aimed at improving water quality in Fish Lake, including reducing impervious area and constructing a permeable paver system in the main parking lot. ADA upgrades will also be incorporated as part of the project.

As part of this project, the Park District will replace the existing boat ramp with a longer ramp that will extend into deeper water. The Park District has also coordinated with the Minnesota DNR and obtained approval to dredge a small amount of material from the end of the new ramp in order to provide greater water depth and improve the ease of boat launching.

Subject to contractor schedule and weather, construction is planned to begin in June 2013 and to be complete by October 2013. The majority of the work on the roads and parking lots is expected to fall within the July 15 to September 15 closure but park users should expect to see construction activity beginning in  early June.  The Park will remain open during this construction.
